Business computing is the study and application of computer technology in a commercial setting. It blends aspects of computing with subjects such as accounting marketing, information systems and business strategy in order to allow individuals to make use of computer technology to achieve organisational solutions.

Companies require individuals who can build strong, reliable, and user-friendly methods to facilitate organisational solutions in an age where computers are increasingly used for information delivery and analysis of data. Our BSc Business Computing degree gives you the expertise and skills you need to be successful in a rapidly changing industry. Guest lecturers from businesses will share their knowledge with you.

You will also develop the broad skills employers seek in IT professionals. These include teamwork, leadership managing projects, and problem-solving. The degree provides an excellent foundation in software development, programming web design, databases, and information systems. You can also opt to focus on data analytics, advanced computer science, or marketing.

The course will provide you with a solid understanding of Windows and its applications software, which includes Word 2002 for Windows word processing spreadsheets databases management systems, presentation graphic software, and Internet. It will also teach you about the security of computers and e-commerce.

Most of the time, seminars and lectures are used to teach, with many courses incorporating computer-based laboratory exercises. Students are expected to conduct your own research and study, both at home and at the university.
